Vision for Arab Sport on Regional and Global Stages

A central theme in my conference contributions is the future of Arab sport—how we can move from potential to sustainable performance. As a keynote speaker at the First Arab International Scientific Conference “Arab Sport Between Reality and Ambition in Light of the Challenges of the Third Millennium” in Bahrain (29–30 October 2022), I delivered two core lectures: “A Future Vision for Developing Arab Sport” and “Sport Economics and the Future of Investment in Arab Sport.” In these talks, I presented strategic pathways to enhance infrastructure, governance, and participation, linking them directly to national development agendas and long-term investment models. My objective was to translate high-level visions into actionable roadmaps that federations, clubs, and policymakers could immediately adapt to their own contexts.

I continued this conversation on the global stage at the Knowledge Summit 2019, organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Knowledge in the United Arab Emirates. There, I engaged with experts from multiple sectors to position sport not only as a competitive industry but as a driver of knowledge, innovation, and human capital development in the region. Soon after, I participated in the International Sports Innovation Conference (Dubai, 18 November 2019), under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, where I focused on how innovation in management, technology, and governance can reshape the future of sports institutions in the Arab world.

Sport as a Pathway to Peace and Social Cohesion

Another important dimension of my conference work is exploring sport as a tool for peacebuilding and social stability. At the international scientific–practical conference “Sport – A Way to Peace Between Peoples” at the Russian State University of Physical Education in Moscow (18–19 November 2015), I contributed a joint research paper on “The Role of Sport in Achieving Peace in the Arab Region in Light of Internal and Regional Conflicts.” In that work, I argued that well-designed sports programs can help bridge divides, create safe spaces for dialogue, and rebuild trust in communities affected by conflict. I used examples from Arab contexts to show how tournaments, youth leagues, and cross-border initiatives can move beyond symbolism to produce measurable social impact.

This peace-and-security perspective is also evident in my contributions to the Fourth International Conference “Sport in Confronting Crime,” organized by Dubai Police (25–27 November 2013). There, I discussed how sports-based programs can be integrated into broader crime-prevention strategies, particularly for youth at risk, by providing alternative pathways, positive peer networks, and structured environments. Across these engagements, my aim has been to frame sport as an essential partner to security, education, and social policy, rather than a separate or secondary activity.

Disability, Inclusion, and Human Development

I am deeply committed to making sport more inclusive, especially for persons with disabilities. At the Fifth Scientific Conference for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities at the University of Al Qasimia in Sharjah (10–14 December 2016), I presented research on the attitudes of sports specialists toward integrating students with physical disabilities into university sports activities. My work there emphasized that inclusion requires more than facilities; it demands new mindsets, adapted programs, and supportive policies that recognize the rights, potential, and talents of all participants.

Earlier, at the Fourth International Scientific Forum for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Khorfakkan Club, UAE (10–15 May 2014), I contributed to discussions on how sports structures can better serve people with disabilities and how tailored programs can improve quality of life and economic participation. I also presented work on the “Economics of Sport for Persons with Disabilities in the Egyptian Paralympic Committee” at the First International Scientific Conference at Ajman Club for People of Determination, highlighting the economic and social value of investing in this field. Through these conferences, I use research to advocate for inclusive policies and to demonstrate that disability sport is both a moral responsibility and a strategic opportunity for societies.

Media, Violence, and the Culture of Sport

The relationship between sport, media, and spectator behavior is another recurring thread in my conference portfolio. In the scientific seminar on “The Role of Sports Media in Reducing Intolerance and Violence in Stadiums” at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Riyadh (18–20 February 2014), I presented a joint study on how sports media can help confront violence and riots in stadiums. I showed that when media narratives reward fair play, condemn aggression, and highlight positive role models, they can significantly shape crowd behavior and expectations.

This work is complemented by my research on security challenges and their impact on the marketing of sports tourism, which I discussed within academic forums focusing on sports marketing and safety. Across these contributions, I advocate for a responsible media culture that treats sport as a vehicle for values, not merely entertainment or conflict.

Governance, Change Management, and Institutional Agility

Because much of my career has been in sports management and administration, many of my conference contributions focus on building stronger, more agile institutions. At the Fifth International Scientific Conference at Yarmouk University in Jordan, I co-authored a paper on “Change Management as an Entry Point for Developing Administrative Performance in Sports Clubs in the UAE,” emphasizing how structured change processes can improve governance, transparency, and service quality. In a related conference on sports creativity held in cooperation with the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award in Jordan, I discussed “Administrative Creativity as an Entry Point for Developing the Management of Sports Institutions in the UAE,” presenting practical models for innovation in organizational structures and leadership practices.

These themes align with my broader work on governance and investment mechanisms in sports institutions, which I have disseminated through both conferences and journal publications. I see conferences as an ideal environment to test these frameworks with practitioners and academics simultaneously, ensuring that my proposals are both scientifically sound and practically applicable.

Building a Regional and International Dialogue on Sport

Beyond individual papers, I value conferences as ecosystems that connect Arab sports discourse with global developments. I have contributed to several high-level events, such as the 56th Annual World Congress of the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport, and Dance (ICHPER.SD) in Manama, Bahrain (18–20 December 2014), and the 16th International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Physical Education for Boys at Helwan University in Cairo (6–8 November 2015). In these forums, I engage with emerging trends in physical education, sports science, and policy, while sharing case studies from Egypt, the Gulf region, and the broader Arab world.

My participation in multiple Jordanian conferences—including the sports science conference for faculties of physical education at Jordanian universities, the Eighth Scientific Sports Conference at the University of Jordan, and the Fifth Educational International Conference at Tafila Technical University—has helped me build a continuous dialogue around sports culture, education, and social challenges. Each of these events has added a new layer to my understanding of how sport interacts with economics, politics, education, and culture, and has allowed me to refine my contributions accordingly.

From Conference Hall to Practice

What matters most to me is that conference work does not stay on the podium. Many of the concepts I present—whether on Arab sports development, governance, inclusion, or peacebuilding—feed directly into my roles in sports administration, scouting, and youth programs. By presenting my work in regional and international conferences, I constantly expose my ideas to critique, comparison, and collaboration, which helps me turn theoretical models into applied strategies in clubs, universities, youth centers, and scouting organizations.

In summary, my conference contributions form a coherent narrative: using sport as a strategic tool for development, peace, inclusion, and institutional excellence in the Arab world and beyond. Through keynote speeches, research presentations, and expert panels, I strive to connect data with vision, and academic rigor with practical impact, so that each conference becomes a stepping stone toward a more empowered, ethical, and future-ready sports ecosystem.
